May 12th
Marks have been updated for all three classes.
MPM 2D1
Students have been working on factoring. TIPS assignment (the calendar) is due this Friday (this is a deadline - has to be handed in on this day). Tomorrow in class students will work on creating a 'factoring guide' and then they will start on a factoring assignment.
MFM 2P1
This week has been dedicated to review of unit #2. On Friday students will do the assessment for unit #2.
MFM 1P1
Students have been examining rates of change (slope, pitch, grade,...). Using their knowledge they have been interpreting graphs.

All three classes have been preparing study notes that will be used for their Summatives. The Summative assessment will be open book (in this case their notes that they are creating). So accuracy, full detail, and neatness are all critical elements in terms of completing these notes. For the two applied level classes, the notes will also count as a small part of their Summative mark.
Due Dates for these notes:
MPM 2D1 - Friday May 7
MFM 2P1 - Monday May 10
MFM 1P1 - Monday May 10
Marks have been updated today for the MPM 2D1 and MFM 2P1 (link to the right).

MPM 2D1
Students will be wrapping up the current unit this week, with an assignment today and a test on Friday.
Then students will be solving linear systems (graphing, substitution, and elimination). Other topics that will be covered in April include the following:
- graphing inequalities
- shortest distance from a point to a line
- determining the location of the centroid and circumcentre of a triangle algebraically
- TIPS assignment (the Bermuda Triangle)
- unit test approximately scheduled for April 19th
MFM 2P1
Today students will be doing research on the clinometer and completing a brief assignment. Tomorrow students will construct a clinometer with the intent of using them in the field (outside the doors of DSS). A performance assessment of the unit will occur at the end of the week.
Students will soon be introduced to the following topics:
-plotting points
- slope
- plotting lines
- solving linear systems (by graphing, substitution, and elimination)
MFM 1P1
Today and tomorrow students will be graphing lines using two methods. Then the new unit deals with ratio, rates, unit rates, equivalent ratios,....
Any questions, feel free to contact me at the school (905) 774 7401

Note for MPM 2D1:
Reports (mark sheets) are due today (they should be signed by a parent/guardian).
Do not forget that on Friday is your Trigonometry test !!!!
MFM 1P1
Students will start examining graphical relationships (graphs, terminology, interpreting gaphs,...)
MFM 2P1
Students are wrapping up proportional reasoning and soon will start 'Similar Triangles'.
Students also had a mark sheet sent home that should have been signed (by a parent/guardian) and returned by now.

Note: there is a link to the marks down on the right side of this page !!
If students are experiencing any difficulties they must seek extra help (ie. lunch time). Students need to attempt all work. Lastly, lack of focus during class time and the lack of attendance will definitely have a negative impact upon a mark.
Also be aware that is a quiz is not done to a satisfactory level, the student may come back at lunch and rewrite the quiz.
MFM 1P1
Students are wrapping up solving equations by completing word problems (monday and tuesday). This week students will start into the world of polynomials (what they are, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing). If time permits, students will also be introduced to the Cartesian plane.
MPM 2D1
Students have wrapped the primary trig ratios last week. This week students will be introduced to the sine law and cosine law.
MFM 2P1
Yesterday students were given time to complete a couple of work sheets that were passed out last week. Today and for the rest of the week, students will be introduced to proportional reasoning.
